Leave it to a 20 year old to school me on self-tanning. I can lecture on plastic surgery highs and lows but when it comes to the mysterious world of self-tanners, I’m clueless. But I love having a tan. Some sort of tan that doesn’t involve sitting in the sun. I’m discovering new options for beauty in my over forties and it’s true. I’ve already seen plenty of sun. Nowadays I just want a tan when I want it without having to kiss mister sun anymore than necessary. When I walk from the house to the car I get plenty of sun. And, I usually wear a hat for the time it takes to get to the car door anyway. I’m at an age where I just want a reliable self-tanner without an offensive odor. And, one that doesn’t make me look orangey. Also, I want a self-tanner that doesn’t hyper up my pigmentation spots into an even deeper shade of brown!
Well, my daughter’s friend Charlotte is a self-tanning diva. She knows the ins and outs of sun bathing alternatives: spray tanning, tanning beds, tanning booths and what caught my interest: self-tanning lotions. When she mentioned the latter I was all ears. It was like talking to a research scientist. She knowledgeably introduced me to a series of product samples by doing a little patch test. I was blown away by her ingenuity. One product clearly worked best for my skin tone. Who is my new product love affair? It is with Decleor Aroma Sun SPF8 Hydrating Self-Tanning Milk. Somehow the French always seem to know how to make women look more beautiful. How is that?
Decleor Aroma Sun self-tanner provides a golden glow that looks completely natural on me and a fragrance that is faintly sweet. I find myself inhaling the fragrance on my arm whenever the self-tanner is at work. It’s a delicious fragrance and has become a Pavlovian reflex. The fragrance reminds me I’m going to be happier with my appearance in just a few hours. Who knew a self-tanner would provide such confidence and delight for a relatively small investment? Who knew? Well, I think Charlotte had more than an inkling. She’s a very smart girl. Of course my daughter is brilliant. No argument there. But the product genius here is Charlotte.
My girlfriends are all impressed. We are all searching for a great tan. Some of my friends have gotten spray tans in the past and I have also tried it on occasion. It was an okay experience with okay results. Frankly it was such a mess of excess tanning product I just felt restricted from moving for hours so as not to ruin clothing, furniture or sheets. It took too long for the spray to settle in to my skin. But I have no issues like that using a simple to use product like this. The spray tan technology no doubt is going to improve. But, in the meantime I am thrilled with my Aroma Sun self-tanning milk from Decleor. I just had to share my self-tanning world of bliss…
